Posted by: @patStayed in spiders and nissen huts with stoves in various places and never had a problem. The youngsters these days would be bamboozled by the thought of lighting a stove, never having been outside a gas fired centrally heated house. I remember one of my brother's daughter being fascinated by my mother's open fire and she made a toasting fork from a wire coat hanger to show her how to make toast the old way.
Toast on the fire was the best toast going after the old gas cookers. They had to switch from coal gas to natural gas to make it safe, so those inconsiderate fukkers who stuck their nappers in the oven only got a headache.

I remember flying into Luton a few years back and seeing the 'parch' marks of a whole village across the fields and thinking 'Dave would have a great few days here!' You could identify clearly where a church and mansion house had been and about 20 smaller houses, probably abandoned during a plague or something and robbed out to below ground level before grassing over through the centuries.
Thiz deffo gold in them thar hills! 😏Â
Don't dig up some bugger who has had the Plague Dave, you don't want any parts dropping off mate!
when a lived in Sheffield Bob, a used ta bimble around the Peak District village o Eyam weer the plague took hold in the 17th century, thi reckon it wuz carried theer by some tailor from Londonistan deliverin some cloth n almost wiped the village out. Thiz an owd stone trough full o coins that people av lobbed in over time. Bin tempted ta grab a few a few times but fear o catchin summat put me off. Funny when tha thinks about cos nowt bothered thi when stickin thi wick in some slapper durin thi hayday n thank fukk nowts dropped off
