Crash bang wallop! Back left again, where's my bloody ESCO Light?
I don't know about you Bob but most of my descents happened at night
Night or graveyard shift big part o bein a Para Jack.
Remember a night lob from an Argosy on Frog Hill.my opposite number was a Figian "called Atu. Either he went through my rigging lines or I through his,he was just below me, and I heard him say," Lord don't let anything happen to me now, as I go on leave to Fiji tomorrow " Best landing I've done, we were both fine!
Mother Earth very kind to you both Bob!
Similar thing happened to me on Haltern DZ in Germany when I went through Brian Dixon's rigging lines and held on for grim death. He said "Let go!" but when we looked up there was 1 and a 1/2 chutes there with no way of telling who had the 1/2......"Hold on fer f.ck's sake" he shouted and we landed like a faerie's fart after I'd managed to fling my container out so it missed him on it's way to the end of the rope. Probably my softest ever landing!
You never know what fate has in store for you, I remember Ginge Read, and Chris Harper, one pinched the air from the others chute and poor old Chris dropped like a ton of concrete onto the horns of his Bergan. Result paralysed from the waist down, and in a wheelchair for the rest of his life. Ginge was injured but recovered and lived to tell the tale. Bummer eh!
As they say accidents will happen when you least expect them! 😮Â
Remarkable really how few bad injuries were sustained considering the way we went about it! I always laugh at civvie freefallers who brag about the great heights they've jumped from and don't understand when I describe 'real' parachuting from 650' with your own body weight strapped to you and bouncing off 60 other blokes in pitch blackness!
Like describing colours to Stevie Wonder Bob, thaz wastin thi fukkin breath!

That brought back a few memories, the only thing I can't recall was the Tower, the rest all very familiar. The knacker Cracker, who could forget that. Funny I know blokes who didn't care for it at all but I quite enjoyed the Balloon lobs!
Feet and arsehole clenched together.😄
