Might return if the Blades manage to get to the play off final but will only visit the stadium and the green man battle cruizer, probably az allus lose but hey ho a day out can,t come to any harm? 😕Â
I try and avoid the place if I can, if I'm not using the car for any reason and I have to travel there by rail or coach, it's only to get to another rail or coach station to carry on to my destination.
Choo choo for me Bob.
Dave I can remember back in the 80s when Eleanor went to visit her Dad who was not very well in a home. Worked out it was cheaper to fly from Heathrow to Newcastle Airport, than it was to go by train. Don't think it took all that long, she said they were not long in the air before they were landing at Newcastle.
Train prices are outrageous these days. I read a tale a few weeks ago where a lad wanted to go from Newcastle to somewhere down south to a match and it was cheaper for him to go via Portugal, spending a night in a hostel then on to Luton where a relative ferried him the last 20 miles or so, then back via Amsterdam. The whole trip cost him about 95 quid as opposed to several hundred on the train!
😮
Never gu ta Inverness from Durham on the Choo Choo, teks ferrever n he one from Edinburgh ta Inverness, standin room only, like a fukkin Cattle Truck! Never agee-an! Big Iron Bird from Newcastle next time!
Kin hell Pat, seems like he got a cheap world tour mate, but it just shows how expensive it is to use public transport in Britain today. And they tell us old gits that we shouldn't be driving any more FFS! 😡Â
All the more reason to take advantage of the free veteran's Oyster card given out by Transport For London. Even if you only use it once it's a saving of loads on the tube, buses and overground trains and some ferries on the Thames. Must've saved me hundreds over the last few years visiting the stepsons over there travelling back and forth across the city and to and from the airports.
I did an excercise one day. Got the price from N/cstl to London and a similar journey Calais to Paris, Needless to say the UK journey was about 5x the frog journey. This is because the French government are investors in UK rail Co's and rake in tens of millions a year from UK rail users. ÂPosted by: @patTrain prices are outrageous these days. Only thing any gud outa France is the fukkin letters!
I could never understand why The government decided to axe branch lines and give up public ownership on British Rail, It would have taken a big load off overladen roads and motorways. And prevented under investment in the rail system. So who took a back hander for that one?
