Got the band to announce "The Luscious One's" birthday last night, getting her a standing ovation so the brownie point mauntain is high!! Another great weekend here meeting with blokes I hadn't bumped into in 30 yrs and quaffing the black stuff by the gallon, less so last night as I was still burned out from friday and we crept out at 10 or so back to the van. Off to the north east in a few minutes to drag her round new places for a couple of days, probably Scarborough and Whitby providing the increasingly loud van makes it!

No photos from me Bob,I don't have a camera and my little push button Nokia phone would be no good for it. I was too pissed to think of that sort of thing anyway, the 50 yard stagger back to the van from the rugby club was challenge enough for both me and her!

We've just arrived in Bridlington, quick dash round the sea front and an ice cream and off to a camp site to get cleaned up after the weekend slumming it in the car park. Off to Scarborough tomorrow then on to Whitby before heading home on wednesday, about 2000 miles round trip in all and the van has impressed with it's staying power for a 32 yr old rust bucket!

She's dreading those steps as she hates any effort in getting anywhere, moaned like f.ck on the ferry when they put us down on deck 7 with the lorries and she had about 100 steps to get up to the passenger deck! I told her Whitby was famous for it's chippies so she's looking forward to that at least! Don't think I'll be up to running up those steps either, the gammy ankle and hip are giving me gip after the last few days of strutting round the bars of brecon and juggling the pedals of the van 6 or 7 hours a day as well so I might have to resort to the stick tomorrow!

Didn't think much of Scarborough so came on to Whitby, toured the abbey then went for a great fish and chips before driving to a camp site to spend the night before exploring the full town in the morning. Then we're off towards the M6 to stop in Kendal and Penrith, before heading to Dumfries on wednesday to pop into the flying museum with it's Airborne section and to pick up some haggis before heading for the ferry home. Only home for just over a day before I've got to head for Londonistan to rent a special suit demanded by the youngest stepson for his wedding and go on the piss with him at the rugby. Oh the jet setting life's for me!

Years agu Scarboro wuz famous fer its WW11 sea battle in Peashome Park. Brilliant fer kids ta wetch, realistic battle ships on the pond and wire mounted aircraft flying across bombin em. Pyrotechnics in the pond med it a great spectacle. Not sure if they still do it tho?
