Great memories from the 60s Jack, early part a remember boozers avin ta shut 10pm on Sundays and local froffy coffee bar, toons on the Jukebox not allowed. Come a long way since then!
Don't know what it is but when I click on the link all I get is Oooops! can't reach this page! some setting somewhere gone tits up I'll just have to find out where it is!
Got it sorted Jack, I'm pleased I don't drink in that boozer were their speaking Esperanto, listening to that lot you would think your pissed before you finished your pint mate! But a couple of good laughs there with the old Hoss drinking more than the whole community put together, I bet nobody was riding him back home! 🤣 🤣 🤣Â
Bob no characters in the pubs these days not seen many games of dominoes either
Your right Jack.its characters that are missing, these days their full of so called hard men ready to stick a knife between your ribs.I can do without that crap. I just want to enjoy a night out not end up in A&E.
Let's face it Bob, every trip outside your bedroom at your age is a gamble and could end in A+E!! 🤣Â
😀
Some gud clips theer Jack, talk about all our yesterdays! These days a reckon thiz moor fitness clubs than battlecruisers, totally different mindset than yesteryear, moor ten bob millionaires than enuff. The good owd local boozer a thing o the past and the ones left o moor like scoff joints, wine bars and posers paradise! Weer a wuz brought up in the back streets of Sheffield, every street had at least 3 boozers, complete with piano, dartboord and the rest playin cards and dominos.Any arguments were sorted out with coats off and soort it out in the street, great entertainment fer us snotty noo-zd bin lids to watch!! Then ofcoorse thy ad the many CIU Workingmens Clubs, most now shut, but then agee-an not enuff working men these days to attend. Very sad!
The Bank House Club at Newbiggin was a good old miners haunt Dave, They used to hold the leek shows and other events there, after the leek show the produce was collected and a load of good old broth was made out of it, that went down well with a pint of IPA.
The talent shows were always good for a laugh, once the Master of ceremonies said, and you have to remember he spoke in a strong pitmatic Geordie dialect (And noo we hev madame Barnes to sing Noo is the Whore) everybody were pissing themselves laughing! But Madame Barnes in the spirit of the moment carried on regardless! 🤣 🤣Â
One pub I remember1958 (Brick kilns) there was sand on the floor soaked up the blood and beer. The land lord said "out and he was known to put one through the door" Philip Cork was hard old bastard
