Watched a Doco on BBC 4 last night
Dave Tompkins was a petty thief who craved adventure. His career as an international mercenary began in Africa and took him all over the world - to Afghanistan, Croatia and later to Colombia, where he led a team commissioned to assassinate notorious Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He went out with Callan and Copland to Angola he was the explosives guy in the team. While laying some mines he was injured by one going off. Got casavact back to uk just before Callan executed some of his men. Peter McAleese featured. We had one guy in our squadron who was out there he told me that the only way he survived was to keep to SOP’s staying in the bush and no tracks/roads

A few years ago we used to laugh at the Yanks having their own police forces on campus to control students. It would seem that perhaps what's going on in schools these days with stabbings, drugs, etc in this Country that it is no longer a laughable matter, and some form of security should be introduced into our schools!

Just to let everyone know I have been forced to resign as History Editor of the Parachute Regiment Hermes Digital Magazine as I have been denied the right of Freedom of Press by the Parachute Regiment who are following rules from above right up to the Ministry of Defence from one leve above me.
Following our recent protest march over the IRA Witch Hunts against Veterans I was asked to make an article for the newsletter with confirming evidence of the incidents to let all PRA members know. as to what had happened at our demo and the events around the facts of the Coroners inquest in the SAS ambush the fact that whilst we were doing this the evidence came out the witch hunts had started again and certain government figures who were lawyers were responsible for making a living out of representing terrorists and that a mass demonstration was shortly going to take place and we needed boots on the ground from the Paras
( Especially as much of the witch hunts involved Paras and now SAS many of who were ex Paras who shot 4 terrorists in self defence after they attacked a Police Station.)
I also reported many veterans were not happy the King at the time had invited the First minister of Northern Ireland to dinner and a night stay over at Windsor Castle. Accepted the King was stuck in the middle with this I felt he should not be Colonel in Chief of the Parachute Regiment as it was an insult to all veterans who were killed in Northern Ireland especially from Warrenpoint. and many veterans had advised me they felt the same.I was reporting my findings.
I was told only to use Facebook and they could not print it as the head sheds of the Paras will shut the magazine down. I had invited John Ross to do a piece from the Northern Ireland side so we all had a good idea of what was happening. He was censored as well.
I was trying to ensure the Para veterans were supporting the next demo/protest.
I provided full history of the our main enemies in the Government of Uk and Michelle O Neill in a Daily Mail article to back it up and MLA s to back it up
I therefore have been forced to resign as my position as is not workable and when I ask a guest writer to help he was so appallingly treated as well. So if Para Veterans are not at the next demo it is not the Veterans Fault but the Censorship of the Parachute Regiment. serving Hierarchy going up from my immediate superiors to the MOD.
I have done my best to report this fairly but beyond my control. So I am forced to resign. Why ask me to be editor and then prevent me from writing ?

I sat for 18 years as a Magistrate and in the Crown Court as well. I took a juducial oath to do this without fear favour affection or Ill will. Something I still do. Nothing I report is not true fact. I resigned when Justice could not be done with the arrival of the Human Rights Act after giving in a try for 5 years. it was a criminals charter and still is.

I am fuming that an honest caring human being has been forced to resign from an informative role, because of people who can't see the wood for the trees. We need outspoken people to bring these facts to light, and if these people can't see that this is the right way to go then there is something sorely wrong with them.
Geoff just let me thank you, for all your previous good work, and I am sorry you have had to resign over this issue. But you are a man of integrity, and I can fully appreciate why you have done so.Â

Snap, me as well Jack, just put my key in the door when it went off! Couple of minutes earlier I passed the very spot mate. Consider myself to be a very lucky man. And will never forget the poor souls who's lives were cut short in this incident. RIP to them all.

Bob I was walking across the roundabout. Ran to the location helped a RAF officer to MI room. Had to smash one of the cabinets to get bandages for his head wounds people started returning as I was in civys I made a exit
