A wuz allus too fukked ta look!
I can remember a lad digging up a MP40 Shmeisser in Germany when digging his trench! Mind you I also remember a Carl Gustav 84mm going missing when trenches were filled in, and despite RE going out and digging the whole area up again it didn't re-appear! OOPS!
The mind boggles Pat just how much ordnance is lying beneath the earth and yet to be uncovered. Also during WW1 when digging trenches quite a few Roman and ancient artefacts were found. Apart from 75mm solid shot and 2 inch mortar rounds and several 36 Mills grenades uncovered from the WW2 AVFR on Midhope Moor on my travels I,ve uncovered swords, mace heads and bronze age axes. Unfortunately as yet no firearms, cannon balls and musket balls, quite a few and probably the best a beautiful bronze time cannon.
I keep thinking I should get out there with my cheap hurdy gurdy that's sat behind the door of my 'gun room' for years, but never seem to get round to it. Must do better as all my reports have said!
It,s brill fer thi piece o mind Pat. Keeps thi outa the gaff n away from thi missis n outa lug shot from er gaff improvement projects! "Outa sight, outa mind!"
Fun and games on my first flight lost signal with drone then screen cut out. Restarted walked up a field to where I thought it was then the screen had a pop up “do you want to connect to the drone”. It came back to my new home point. The Salhouse clip was my first flight so a litte hesitant about flying after that.
Looks like a yacht race on the Bure
Nice one Jack!
Enjoyed the music as well Jack, a bit of rousing stuff playing in the background. nice one! 👍
👍
@pat Reminds me of Exercise Overdale in the late sixties in Germany, can't remember the name of the woods we. Were harboured up in but while digging our hide I uncovered a WW2 dagger, the blade was in good order but the handle and sheath had suffered the ravages of time. Somebody who knew about this sort of stuff said it was a Kriegsmarine weapon. I gave it away to somebody who collected that stuff. But it's surprising what you can find.
Seek and Ye Shall Find Bob.
If you had the old Hurdy Gurdy in Libya you would have found a lot of stuff Dave, mines included mate!
That,s ow the hurdy gurdy,s started Bob,usin em ta detect mines. Thank f..k I aint come come across one, YET!
One of our blokes, poor old Henry Morgan was killed clearing them sometime after the Gulf War. Bloody shame he was a great bloke and an excellent Rugby player. Sad Loss!
R.I.P. Henry. Reminds mi o mi time in Aden as a wet behind the lugs sprog in battalion wuz handed a big fukk off long stick wi a hook on the end, put on point n teld ta wetch out fer snipers. After about 20 yards looked behind ta see the rest o the section wavin mi forward from a crouchin position WTF! all laffin their bollox off! Found out that I wuz the target fer any burried mines and dragging the hook behind mi wuz ta set off potential trip wires! Talk about bein az daft az a looked!
