She's been watching that twat Lawrence Llewellin Bowen doing a 'House of the year' programme over here and taking pics of the screen when she likes something. Woke up this morning talking about wallpaper to add 'texture' to the new house when we move. Told her I won't be getting involved as all I want is walls to keep the weather out and don't give a f.ck what colour or 'texture' they are, and she can find me in the shed/van when the job's done! Now I'm the twat for not showing an interest!
😀Â I'm lucky I don't have that problem Pat although the daughter did try once 🤗Â
Lucky bastard! 👍Â
Wouldn't recommend putting wallpaper on any wall until at least six months have elapsed Pat, you want to keep an eye out for any movement in new build properties mate.
That won't be a problem Bob as it's 17 yrs old so any movement should've ceased, but I won't be partaking in any paper hanging anyway as it's just about my most hated activity ever, especially if it's patterned and needs matching!
I've put a bit up in my time mate, the average roll used to be about 21" wide, used to measure from the corner 20" then drop a plumb line to allow an inch for pushing into the corner on uneven walls, Then trim off the corner waste. As long as that first length is plumb the rest is a doddle. But do it on each following wall!
Nah, a roller and paintbrush is as far as I go these days and hopefully not even that in the new place, she can either do it herself or pay someone to come in. The last time I papered was on false ceilings I put in my last gaff and while stood on a chair putting a sheet up the seat gave way and down I went, sticking one foot in the paste bucket and raking all the skin off my other shin, like something out of a Norman Wisdom film. No more papering for me!
🤣 🤣 🤣 Got to agree papering ceilings is a twat of a job!
"Trouble" used ta be shit ot at wallpaperin but too much for er these days so it,s the naked decorater from now on and like thee Pat Paint pan n roller best fer me, then every year just clean the fukker down wi soo-ap n watter.
The old Pitman's wives used to get together when decorating was to be carried out. Mostly whitewash and distemper in them days. Stirrup pump and a bucket of whitewash to tackle the Netty, hard grafters some of them old dolls!
With big right arms for pumping the stirrup pump, twirling the washing dolly and belting you kids round the lug!
Thems the days when bin lids behaved theresens or copped fer a thick lug!
17yrs old? Hope you're prepared for higher fuel bills than you're paying just now Pat? You're curent gaff has real walls and the Rayburn can burn anything.Posted by: @patThat won't be a problem Bob as it's 17 yrs old so any movement should've ceased, but I won't be partaking in any paper hanging anyway as it's just about my most hated activity ever, especially if it's patterned and needs matching!

I know Don, and she's discovered that there's underfloor heating there as well, don't know yet if it's oil or electric powered, but she swears it'll be on at foot scalding temperature all year round. Well she can f.ckin' pay for it then while I'll be kipping in the van or shed! I've told the lad buying this place to give me first refusal on the Rayburn if he decides to take it out, and she might just find her nemesis in the kitchen one morning when she drags herself from her pit!
Worth their weight in gold them old Rayburns Pat, it's all about heat pumps and energy efficiency these days which is fine until the power shuts down. Trouble today is there are a lot of people living in modern accommodation who have never experienced the power outages of the 1970s etc. Chuck a log on the fire? Sorry no fireplaces these days!
