...lifted this from FB:

Just heard the sad news from his sister that Dave "Stotty" Stott passed away back in September. The funeral is next week details to follow. Stotty was a much loved and respected Regimental character and an outstanding Company medic on Mount Longdon in 82. We all have our stories of this larger than life man and I will miss his monthly banter phone calls although not his yelling down the mike as his hearing got worse. Another great 3 Para man gone.

He'll always be remembered for his gap toothed grin, with all his top front gnashers missing. We said it was punishment for his treatment of one of the 'slop jockeys' who collapsed with some kind of seizure on exercise and was swallowing his tongue. Unable to open his gob Stotty reached for a huge ladle on the table and smashed him in the mouth, breaking his jaw and all his teeth, but thereby saving his life. Not sure if the cook thanked him! I 'suffered' his treatment in Germany on exercise when he had me grip a Landrover trailer while he cut a large tick out of my back which I kept in a matchbox for several days stomping around with a square collar of my flesh round it's neck! Great bloke and fantastic medic!
