Watched a Doco on BBC 4 last night
Dave Tompkins was a petty thief who craved adventure. His career as an international mercenary began in Africa and took him all over the world - to Afghanistan, Croatia and later to Colombia, where he led a team commissioned to assassinate notorious Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He went out with Callan and Copland to Angola he was the explosives guy in the team. While laying some mines he was injured by one going off. Got casavact back to uk just before Callan executed some of his men. Peter McAleese featured. We had one guy in our squadron who was out there he told me that the only way he survived was to keep to SOP’s staying in the bush and no tracks/roads

Got to be honest, I don't really have a problem with ID cards, probably because we carried one in some shape or form for donkey's years. And if it stops illegal immigrants and the like from robbing our system,then I give it the thumbs up!
The other thing is I no longer hold a passport which is require by many government web sites,so an ID Card may be the way forward as a key to access.

I have nothing against ID cards like yourself Bob, it's the digital side of things that annoys me! I would want a little plastic square in my wallet, to be pulled out and shown when needed. With 20,000 phones being stolen a year in London alone, that's a potential 20,000 ID's for illegals to use for scamming benefits or whatever, easier than having to take it from my wallet in my inside pocket, just dash past on yer electric cycle/scooter and grab the phone from my hand as I gormlessly hold it to my ear or scroll through the shite on it! (Not going to happen as I don't possess one of Satan's tools, but I don't want to be forced to have one for the sake of ID!) 😡Â

@pat you have just enlightened me, still living in the dark ages I thought we would be issued with something tangible like the old MOD 90. So if your saying we have to all download one on to a phone seem senseless as not everyone owns a phone, so how do they intend to get round that ?

I've no sympathy for the bent twat whatsoever, Think himself lucky he's not residing in some jail for the rest of his life. Still reckon they should put him on the sex offenders list. A lass committed suicide for what went on in that scandal !
