I've certainly put some stuff on mine as a youngster Dave, Me granny used to mix up some stuff which used to set as hard as concrete mate. Can't remember the name of it, think it was called Gumtrathica or something like that. You could stand in a nine force gale and not a hair would budge. If anybody else remembers it,let us know the proper name!

Obviously a very old potion Bob that you,d never get from a chemist, but those old potions and remedies worked and were time tested. My old man when he had a sore throat used to put a sweaty sock around his neck when in bed and swore by it, summat handed down through his family, bit different from the "Instant Arousal" stuff popular these days! As for the barnet dressing, a used ta put Vasalene n watter on mine that set like bell metal ta keep mi "TonyCurtis" style in place, was even watterproof when pissin it down!

🤣 Do you remember your Mam wrapping a hot onion in a stocking and tying it over your lug when you had earache. Did the job softening the wax and easing the pain.

As you say Dave, people might laugh at those old home remedies but they worked a treat, except for Castor Oil, l hated that gopping shite.they had to pin me down and pinch my nose to get it into me!
