Watched a Doco on BBC 4 last night
Dave Tompkins was a petty thief who craved adventure. His career as an international mercenary began in Africa and took him all over the world - to Afghanistan, Croatia and later to Colombia, where he led a team commissioned to assassinate notorious Columbian drug lord Pablo Escobar. He went out with Callan and Copland to Angola he was the explosives guy in the team. While laying some mines he was injured by one going off. Got casavact back to uk just before Callan executed some of his men. Peter McAleese featured. We had one guy in our squadron who was out there he told me that the only way he survived was to keep to SOP’s staying in the bush and no tracks/roads

I stayed in the village, not sure if I could fly the drone but was well away and not above 150 ft. Pub was ok £5.20 a pint the real ale I had was on the right white label. In the morning parking on green car park and queuing in steady rain we passed through security on to the tattoo.
Good day out Jack, pity about the rain, gud job skin iz watterproof!
soon dried out Dave not much better on day 2Â
English Weather Jack? as reliable as ever!
Those old stealth bombers, you wouldn't know they were there until you were on your way to Valhalla saying Red bull gives you wings.
I see a PX4 for sale on milweb at the moment to help you get there, only £650!
What are these modern chutes like these days.got to be an improvement of the old swinging pendulum banging you into the deck like a bag of bloody hammers.
Don't know what they're using now Bob, the PX4 was supposed to be replaced with the MK5 but that was downgraded to balloon use only with bolts through the capewell quick release devices after they kept failing and killing blokes. Back to the PX4 for a few years and then just before I left they brought out the LLP (Low Level Parachute) which I did my last few lobs with, very little difference between any of the 3 in performance. I think they might be using the Yank T11 now or something similar, strange boxlike shape of a thing and not well liked by the Yanks from things I've read!
Old X Type like a fukkin fairground swing!
Remember being dropped on Hankley Common with the old X type. When the RAF nearly dropped us on the bloody pylons. Just managed to avoid them by pulling like hell on the back lift webs. Twats!
Only bonus wi the rig wuz the white webbin.
Often thought I'd like a trip down memory lane, and do another static line lob. But age with insurance would probably be sky high, even if there was anyone that would take me on. Probably look at me and say Fukk Off!
