Having taken into account the current COVID restrictions that currently apply in the different parts of the UK, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 reunion.
The Chairman Nick Butler will be heading up the Fan at 0930 hrs on Saturday the 15th May and he will lay a BAFC wreath on behalf of the Club at the summit.
He will also toast The Fallen.
If other members wish to make their own pilgrimage up the Fan at their own risk please follow the relevant COVID restrictions that will be in place.
As a Club we are not able to accept liability for members safety and well being over the weekend of 14/15 May. Our Clubs insurance that normally covers Fandance will not operate this year.
Update to follow reference Aldershot 10 Miler on the 20th November 2021.
.........................................................................................................................The 10 Miler will be held on w/e Saturday 23rd November 2024........................................................................................
Reading this, I might get mesen a bike n start agee-an, but keep off the beaten track cos cycling in traffic iz akin ta playin Russian Roulette. Not too many hills around ere n probably a bit too far ta head fer Hadrians Wall. Anyone who knows Sheffield will know that the joint is a Hill Climbers paradise, not only out in the close by Pennines but in the city itself. One in particular close to the city centre itself "Blake Street", like climbing the fukkin Matterhorn, even a hand rail ta help pedestrians climb ta the top n prevent em from falling back down. Used ta be a sprint every year by patrons o the two battlecruisers situated on both corners at the top, first ta the bar wins the race n last man gets the round in. Ball breaker of a race, especially when tha considers that the climb meks Hungry Hill look like a fukkin pimple. Record time still standing iz held by Ernest Harper set in the 30s, he also came 2nd in the 36 Olympics Marathon. Icing on the cake wuz that he set the Blake Street record, arriving straight from iz steel works job n wearing overalls n steel toe capped work boots with flipped Woodbine dog end resting behind iz lug. Don,t mek em like that anymoor. Over ta you Mo Farrah!
I would love to have met Ernest Harper Dave He sounds like a right character. Sheffield must have been similar to the Black Country / Midlands. Similar industries and similar blokes. Some stand out pearlers amongst 'em. Second in the marathon in the Olympics is going some.

And that,s only cos true Spoortsman Ernest stopped ta help a Jap runner who wuz struggling and the point of collapse. The slit eyed twat revived n beat owd Ernest into 2nd place. Tha wunt get that in these ackers oriented days. I used ta run in the Ernest Harper 10 miler every year for charity, brill coorse out in the cuds.
Apocryphal stories tell of him helping up competitors who had fallen, and re-directing someone who had taken a wrong turn on a cross-country course. More prosaically, he was once said to have vacated his seat on a full bus to allow another passenger to sit, instead running behind the vehicle all the way up the steep hill to his home.
Some bloke this one.

Story time! Lad in 1 Para, sadly killed in a parachuting accident, was prone to tell the odd porkie. he went on leave to Leicester (I think) one weekend. Borrowed his dads old 'sit up and beg' bike, apparently (he said) weighed more than a tank. He set of for a ride, dun about 10 miles and (he said) 'some flash c**t in riding gear and on a sports bike caught up with Willie (not his proper name). They set off together and Willie matched him for 5 miles, Willie then got pissed off and put the pressure on leaving the flash c**t miles behind. Willie stopped at a pub and the flash git caught up with Willie. 'By the f**k Willie you lost me then, i could not live with you, and you on that heavy duty bike' Willie said 'whats yer name mate?' The bloke said Reg Harris, I ride for Britain. Willie never batted a f***in eyelid when he told that tale, often. RIP Willie
