Having taken into account the current COVID restrictions that currently apply in the different parts of the UK, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 reunion. The Chairman Nick Butler will be heading up the Fan at 0930 hrs on Saturday the 15th May and he will lay a BAFC wreath on behalf of the Club at the summit. He will also toast The Fallen. If other members wish to make their own pilgrimage up the Fan at their own risk please follow the relevant COVID restrictions that will be in place. As a Club we are not able to accept liability for members safety and well being over the weekend of 14/15 May. Our Clubs insurance that normally covers Fandance will not operate this year. Update to follow reference Aldershot 10 Miler on the 20th November 2021.

PTE E "TED" BONE, MT PLATOON/ANTI-TANK PLATOON, 1 PARA 1957-1959

SAD TO REPORT THAT TED BONE, EX-1 PARA (1957-59) - MT PLATOON - PASSED AWAY IN HIS SLEEP AFTER A LONG ILLNESS AT THE AGE OF 80 YEARS ON SUNDAY 12 APRIL 2015. HIS FUNERAL TOOK PLACE AT THE STEVENAGE CREMATORIUM ON THURSDAY 30 APRIL AND WAS WELL ATTENDED. THE FINAL TUNE PLAYED WAS THE REGIMENTAL MARCH - "RIDE OF THE VALKRIES" - HIS REQUEST. HE AND I JOINED THE REGIMENT ON 1 JANUARY 1957 AT THE DEPOT MAIDA BARRACKS. HE WAS IN 102 PLATOON WHILE I WAS IN 101 PLATOON BEFORE BEING POSTED TO THE 1st Bn. DURING HIS TIME WITH THE MT PLATOON TED WAS ATTACHED TO THE ANTI-TANK PLATOON, SUPPORT COY. AND HAD A 106 ANTI-TANK GUN ON BOARD HIS VEHICLE. SERVED 10 MONTHS IN CYPRUS DURING THE CAMPAIGN AGAINST EOKA. TED WAS AN ADVENTURER & ON LEAVING THE PARAS HE AND HIS THEN NEW WIFE EMIGRATED TO AUSTRALIA - RIDING ALL THE WAY THERE ON A SECOND HAND MOTORCYCLE! HE WAS ALSO A KEEN SPORTING CYCLIST TAKING PART IN A NUMBER OF MAJOR CYCLING EVENTS. TED & MARGARET (MARRIED FOR 55 YEARS) LEFT AUSTRALIA & RETURNED TO HIS HOME NEAR WELWYN GARDEN CITY IN 1972. HE & I STAYED IN TOUCH DOWN THE YEARS & MET UP 3 OR 4 TIMES ANNUALLY AT HIS LOCAL PUB. A GREAT FRIEND - I'LL MISS OUR QUARTERLY MEETINGS. UTRINQUE PARATUS TED. RIP.
