Dave that takes me back a bit mate, NABBA, we were all members of it in our little weight training club at Newbiggin . No bloody steroids taken in them days marra, just hard graft and good eating !

Bob....I ate drank and slept NABBA from 13 to 19. I betcha Oscar Heidenstam kept a lot of otherwise wayward kids on the straight and narrow.

Steroids was unheard of. It was an American thing.
Even Swartzenegger was'nt on them when he won the NABBA U in 65 was it, but after he went to California suddenly morphed into a fookin' huge monster.
Remember him Dave ? Frank Zane.
He was one of the few Yanks that would not touch them....but by and large they were all at it or they fell by the wayside.

Shame innit Tone,that drugs have f.cked up most sports these days. Ya can,t even tek the Olympics seriously anymore, I call it, "The Steroid Games", cos the most important part of the training regime is to mek sure that you,ve gorra shit hot chemist to try and mek sure that you don,t get caught. When I wuz running the gyms, there wuz one knobhead "juicer" I knew who told me that the masking chemical they take to help beat the drugs test is derived from female piss! Now don,t get me wrong, I aint against female piss, as long as it comes from a popular party game called "The Golden Shower!"
I,ve still got me NABBA membership badge from 1960, along with the medal from the first comp I entered in 1961, Junior Mr.Yorkshire where I came 2nd age 14. It was at that show that I got the chance to lift the famous "Inch Dumbell", big f.ck off thick 4 inch diameter bar, weighing about 120lbs. Happy Days!022.jpg
