    Re: ACCIDENT

Like the old phone Dave, got a bit of character about it. And there isn't anybody these days going to stand there gossiping unless their sitting down, the Ayatollah would be lost without the old cordless she sits there with the loudspeaker on rattling on for hours, pisses you off if your trying to read out.

That stoon would cost a bastard fortune here Dave. That would be York Stone trundled up from Yorkshire I bet. By Hoss and Cart and and hand cut on the job with a bolster chisel. No saws in them days. We use Arizona Flagstone here. Its all right but not in the same class as York or Forest of Dean stone. Forest of Dean has probably the finest most blemish free grain I ever saw anywhere. The only way I could ever get it was in the form of big old grave stones that I used to buy for ten bob a piece off me mate who was clearing out the old grave yard, of graves no living relatives could be found for, for the Cof E. They would be jet black but when you cut them they would look almost ice blue inside. Some of it was from the early 1800's. There is a similar one called Indiana Limestone here quarried around Bloomingdale I think..... its called, but still not as good as a blue / grey FOD. Its out of reach of most budgets though. Too far to bring it.
Bill scored on his house in Huntington Beach. He got hold of some 17 Cent Flagstone imported from France, beautiful authentic stuff still had the chisel marks in it from a bloke pushing up daisies for three hundred years. You could see three hundred years of foot traffic on some of it. What year was that house built Dave ?

Initially built in the 11th Century fer the stiff neck from Durham Cathedral, well fortified against the rampaging Jocks. Added to over the years, Tudor n Georgian additions, really nice gaff n gardens ta visit. Full o great architecture built by true crafstmen from our illustrious past, well weth a visit.

Luv it mate. people tend to take all that stuff for granted when they are around it all their life. Driving past it every day.

bit different over here, our place is 70 years old and people think its historic. You go into an antique shop and they've got stuff from the 80's and I mean 1980's.
I have always set myself a very low standard, and constantly fail to achieve it.

Same here. We got an historic building looks like my Black Country neighbour's pigeon pen. Dates back to the 1890's Its only been rebuilt three times. Its one of the oldest building here
Its got a registration number on it and a big brass plaque or did.

We got some nice Old 17th Cent Spanish Missions though, spread all up California about one day on a horse apart.
Starting with Mission San Diego, (I think) Mission San Luis Rey, Mission San Juan Capistrano, Mission San Fernando, Mission Santa Barbara etc etc All the way to Mission San Francisco
