Took a clandestine visit to the "Officially" dug Bronze Age site yesterday, to tek off weer I left off.Reading the landscape I surmised a route the River Wear ran many centuries ago based on the obvious undulation that had once formed the flow.
All round observation just ta mek sure no fukker creeping up on me, then offmeisters with the owd hurdy gurdy. About 20 minutes into me dried up river walk, big fukk off signal, so out with Lord Lovell and start digging. Through the peaty top soil and down into sandy base, deffo owd river bed. Bingo! Jackpot! Beautiful Bronze Age Warrior sword blade, been beneath the ground for roughly 3000 years waiting fer Dave to find it.
Swords were thought to have been thrown into rivers as an offering to the Gods when the owner had kippered or bin killed in battle, so a really rare find.
Light clean, then stabilise the patina by applying Beeswax just to prevent flaking of the verdigris that has built up over the centuries. Now deffo museum quality but the kunts aint avi it!
Wonder how many geezers it twatted in its lifetime? If only these things could talk eh?sword 002.jpgsword 003.jpg
