  • "COKE SOLDIER?"

aden 004.jpg Raghead Coke sellers in Aden back in 67.

Wot reminded me of these two cheeky fukkers wuz a story the grandson told me whil,st serving in Northern Iraq training the Peshmerga.
Out in the desert with a gob like a Sumo Wrestlers jock strap, this soap dodger turns up pushing a barrow full o canned drinks. "Az tha gorra lilt theer mate?" asked the grandson.
"Fukkin ell!" o thaa frum Sheffield? asked the soap dodger, in broad Sheffield "Dee Daa" accent.
    "Ahh",why?" asked the grandson.
"I,m frum theer anall", replied the soap dodger, "A wuz brought up in Darnall."
Now the district of Darnall in Sheffield is situated smack bang in the middle of the old Steel working area, about 4 square miles of terraced houses built in Victorian days for the steelworkers who could fall outa bed and into work in two minutes when summoned by the big fukk off sirens that used to blast out at the start of shift.
Sadly, now no steelworks, but houses still standing exclusively full o fukkin soap dodgers, thousands o the fukkers and that,s just one district of several!
Turns out owd Sinbad, a Kurd fukked off to his homeland about 4 years ago, to help in their struggle, so fair play to him.
After a chat about how things were back in Shiny Sheff, owd Sinbads parting words was to ask how the Blades were duin. "Fukkin shite, as usual", the grandson informed him.
    Fukkin small world or wot!

        Re: "COKE SOLDIER?"

A bit off thread but reminds me of the early 80's.
I was working in Guildford, for and with the PSA which was behind the WRAC camp.
I was told that I could have a meal at lunch time (prior to the girls) for a minimum sum.
But first I was introduced to the Cook CSM, talk about heavy drop Coy, great big fat blak mama.
This is John and he will be having lunch most days if thats ok.
''hello luv'' (then gave me the run down on meal time etc, In the broadest Yorkshire accent you ever heard.

I ensured I was there at the cook-house every day except for weekends for 3 years, and never paid a penny.
