The bloke that talked me into the Reg was a 3 Para Palestine Bloke named Brian Vaughn from West Bromwich, if anybody knew him. When every ex soldier and his brother was telling me what a bunch of homicidal lunatics the Regiment was,and to go in the Staffords because I would not get in anyway, he was the exact reverse. I went looking for him and met him for only one night in a boozer called the Railway Inn in Wednesbury and he was streets ahead of all the rest of my advisors. So I took his advice and shot over to Brum early next morning.
