Steve funny you mentioned that, Pete Bailey every time I see him says " I remember when you escorted me to Colly." He's got a better memory than me mate because I can't recall it !

just borrowing a telly from the naf Tone. We only took it as an after thought, we were actually tunnelling our way into the store, and hit metal, so we thought we would return the following night with the cutting equipment, and foolishly didn't want to leave empty handed. Just our luck a civvie cop was standing under a tree having a smoke at about 2 in the morning and thought it was a bit suspicious seeing some blokes carrying telly and contacted the gestapo. I learned a valuable lesson that night my friend. Always look both ways when yer nicking a telly.

was like a health resort Billy, no booze for 56 days. Well, about 50 anyway. Just near the end, me and Chalkie got told to report to the officers mess to help out at a function. Couldn't believe our luck when they gave us white coats and made us drinks waiters, think we must have had a slurp out of every glass we took out. Probably two of the few people to wake up in Colly with an hangover

There can't be many blokes that can say they went on the lash in Colly. Thats a pretty exclusive club mate.

was a rare good night mate, we also took advantage to get some decent scoff. I remember some officer asking me something and I couldn't speak cause I'd wedged about half a dozen salmon vol-ay-vents into my gob on the way to the table. I just had to grunt and nod my head. It probably confirmed his opinion of airborne soldiers.

The day I was elevated to the lofty heights of Lance Corporaldom,I was informed I would still have to do the duty of waitering for the Sergeant's mess do I was already down for. That night myself and Adam Corneille, also freshly promoted, were told we would be in charge of the wine waiters.Big mistake, responsibility and drink not being something that sat easily together with me!By the end of the do I had to be carried back to the block, and my future as a JNCO hung in the balance for several days!
