Hope your not going to keep it on the edge of the table like that Lonnie. Over the years the missus has found its best to keep any delicate ormaments in a box, in the attic, cause if i'm anywhere near them, they will get broke.
I have always set myself a very low standard, and constantly fail to achieve it.

                        Re: My Porcelain Pegasus

When Big Bish was leaving the post of RSM 3 Para he was presenting a smaller version of this, and wanted it mounted on a plinth as a table centrepiece.I duly carried out the work, and passed him on the way to his office, shouting at a pair of prisoners,as you do when RSM.Entering his office I put the box on his desk, and turned to leave, when I heard a peculiar noise from the box.Looking inside I found the pegasus laying down,as his ankle had snapped!!Oh f.ck what was I to do?He was presenting it that night, and we were off on leave that afternoon, there was no chance to get from Dover to the Shot to replace it (£800 he'd told me)!Gathering it up I ran from the office, telling him on the way past that I'd forgotten to put the green baize on the base, and hightailed it back to the workshop to lock myself in.A nifty bit of work with superglue and tipex and the deed was done....until I turned my back, and there was a tinkle!I turned to find the little f.cker had committed suicide, falling over and removing both wings and tail!!By now the phone was ringing every five minutes as Bish was keen to see it,and I was by now suicidal,as I worked feverishly away, trying ever stronger mixes of glue, and paint to cover the cracks. Two hours later I was able to present it to him, warning him about it's frailty, and praying it didn't fall apart before I got away.I then leapt in the land rover and drove like f.ck home, disconnecting the phone for 24 hours as a precaution.
When I returned to Dover there were no horror stories of it falling to pieces as he presented it,and I breathed a sigh of relief.Never saw it again on visits to the mess,so some poor waiter probably bust it and hid the evidence.3 years ago,at the gathering for the 30th anniversary of Warrenpoint,I finally felt able to confess my sin to Bish, but only after making him solemly promise not to dig me in the gob!I thought he took it quite well really.

Nice bit of kit Lonnie, keep it in full view mate for when the, I have been everywhere from Waterloo to the Afgahnistan, mouthpiece arrives to fix your boiler. I had one to service mine mate, tried to tell me he was ex Airborne Forces, but didn't even know who his Brigade Commander was ! I said to him "Was it Mr Punch". he said I don't know it was so long ago, and never mentioned anything after that ! Every picture tells a story !
