F.ckin ell I,m glad I did,nt av to read that f.ckin lot when I joined up in the mid 60s,mind you back then life was,nt as complicated.All they asked me was,"are you fit? Are you frightened of heights?Do you like fighting? If the answer was yes to all three then you were halfway there.Next came the mandatory medical and eye test and an exam that you would have had to be as thick as a bulls lug to fail.
Next stop Maida where you soon found out that the twat at the recruiting office was talking a load o bollox when he compared it to Butlins and the bucket and spade was,nt exactly the same as the one I had in mind!

He had three qualifying questions for blokes who wanted The Reg.
"Can you Run....Fight....and Fook?
In that order.

Just read all that article, and what jumps out at me is somebody is making a lot of money out of something you don't really require. The aim of the game is if your good enough you will pass, if your not you will fail. that's the way it's been since the innovation of Airborne Forces. So nothing changes, and if people are not up to the mark, then three books are not going to help them. Fitness, Common Sense, Determination, and Willpower is what is required ! Not an armchair and a book !
