      Re: Remember these days

I watch all the people, not all of them young, who can't stay off their phones for 5 minutes TLO among them! Pulling up at junctions or lights they have to check they haven't missed a message,in the mornings at the local shop they pull in and spend 5 minutes checking then go in for the obligatory cardboard cup of coffee before sitting back in the car checking again. The other day I asked the question of what will happen if/when one of the governments turns the internet off, which they certainly could if they wanted for some strategic reason. Mass panic within moments when they all lose the comfort blanket that's their 24/7 companion! Nobody under 50 or so seems to be able to imagine the old style life we led,no TV,no computers,no mobiles,a phonebox 20 yards from our door that served the whole street, anyone passing when it rang knocking the appropriate door to tell them there was a call for them. Running through the fields and quarries playing make believe armies/cowboys and injuns etc,no pokemon or any other mesmerising flashing lights shite to destroy our attention span!
Bring on the big switch off and lets get back to basics!!

                  aaaaayhhh lad...jackets f'goalposts.

Life was truly simpler back then, nowadays fear of missing out (FOMO), is Pandemic. It is a cancer on the planet, but it's useful for social control and distracting people. As you say Pat, Governments can quite literally turn people's lifes on of off.

Digtal meters, digital currency, facial recognition, etc etc etc. You commit a minor transgression, e.g. go 1 mile over the speed limit, accidentally drop a piece of litter, a fine is automatically deducted from your bank, or for more serious 'crimes', even your elctricity could be turned off. You will have a social credit score to control you, this is already hapening in China, needless to say the UK criticises them for a system that we are in the process of setting up.

You have to wonder why, when people (esp kids), have almost all knowledge known to man, literally at their fingertips, why is the population so fukkin dumb?

Shuffling off this mortal coil will seem like a merciful release from the madness. I want to be reincarnated as something without the opposable thumbs necessary to operate anything more complicated than a banana!
