The Fandance this year was a great success. The BAFC laid on a coach from the Rugby Club, bur a sponsor paid for it. We arrived at the Storey Arms car park which is currently a building site and it was mobbed.
The weather was very untypically 'Brecon', no horizontal sleet or hailstones, not even a drip of rain. It was positively Mediterranian all w/e.
After the briefing and reading of the list of the fallen was read and the gang were crossing the startline, we received the news that our treasurer would not be attending. No, he hadn't buggered off with the shekkels. The attention seeking fukker had decided to let a bus hit his car and he was skiving in hospital.
As we waited for the members return, we heard the news that Alex’s condition, as bad as it was, wasn’t as bad as it probably should’ve been when you see the image of the wrecked car. He was a very lucky man.
All in all it was a great w/e. I am still trying to recover from it, but not a drop passed my lips all w/e. My feet/ankles are like two melons and are still absolutely killing me, my back has settled down a bit since I am in my recliner and can get comfortable, couldn’t do that on the army beds, which I think are def lower than they were.
At the top of the fan Bob Craft, who is a Humanist Funeral Celebrant, who went up the Fan in a pinstripe suit read a service as the ashes of three of our members were scattered. These were Steve Parker, Blue Harding, Rene Corcorran and Mark Butland who was not a member. Steve’s were scattered by a bootneck friend of his and the guy gave a good speech too. There are videos of the service on fudbook but I can’t post them here.
Thorny (the 'background guy') on the left reading the manifest for Valhalla:
