Just exactly what would happen if Parliament got up in the morning and said to the South...."OK you can have it. Take it.... the whole fookin ish"..... What would happen ? Immediately and long term ? Bit of moaning. Few marches. Bit of this....bit of that. Then what ?

Always really puzzled me as well why the UK kept the 6 Counties when Ireland got it's independance

Thats what a mate from the south told me a couple of months ago at the reunion, they don't want Ulster.

Gents, remember this page is in the PUBLIC domain, so don't go talking out of school.

Re: IRA support during the troubles

I asked that question of an Irish bloke once, a Prod, and he said he thought the Brains in London hung on to the six counties as a toe hold in case Ireland ever invited in a potential enemy aggressor....troops, army camps, port facilities, like the Germans in both wars for instance, they could then jump on the problem straight away and squash it. I would say that problem is in the past now. The Krauts French and whoever else wants to, can now invade through Heathrow Gatwick and Dover any time they want without firing a round.

If they pulled a United Ireland and all them narsty Prods started bouncing off the walls well.... How would that affect my cousins in Brum ? Or Dons daughter in Scotland ? It would'nt would it ? It would all be on Dublins shoulders. Unless NI's Industrial Base pays a ton more in tax than the population absorbs I would say its a loser. Plus the much vaunted moaning grizzling IRA would be out of work over night and all the Plastic Paddies in Amerikee would have nowt to postulate on. Take the wind out of the sails so to speak.

It would end nothing Tone. They are,and always have been, certainly for the last 40 odd year spat, gangsters, drug dealers and smugglers of anything making money. They'd put Al capone and pals to shame with their open criminality, and reuniting Ireland wouldn't put them suddenly on the straight and narrow.Punishment beatings, shootings etc are a way of life in the catholic and prod ghettoes here, along with the purveying of flesh, drugs etc, north and south,by organised gangs of both persuasions, and Vietnamese,Polish, and Ukranians, all in cahoots with each other, but general crime and violence is way down compared to the cities over the water,so long may they continue!

Well Pat .....Silly me, after years of listening to these gobby Yank Plastic..... 1/100th Paddy DNA tossers romanticising over the IRA over here.... I was in danger of getting brainwashed and listing them with the benign IRA bloke in the "Quiet Man" with John Wayne / Sean Thornton reminiscing over a pint of Guinness, with strains of "Glockamoran" soothing away in background. These silly fookers would not dig your version here mate You would render the party silent. The glasses would not be chinking

If you saw some of the haciendas out in the country where some of these twats live, electric gates to keep the peasantry out, gardeners etc,all paid for in cash taken from the communities they claim to be 'protecting'!

Same old thing Pat. Its always about the money and the opportunity to get at it, wrapped in the flag of patriotism. You would think the powers that be would rise up and wipe the whole nest of Vipers out. IRA...UDA.... and anybody else with a finger in the pie. Unless the "powers that be" have one of them fingers..... in the pie. I would love to round them all up and do a forensic accounting of their bank accounts and financial dealings down to the last penny they ever owned. Find out where every dime came from....and went to. Fook me there would be some red faces, and cell doors slamming. I bet it would gut the Northern Irish Govt.......... Any Govt.
