Beautytash winters day up ere today, clear blue sky, hard morning jack frost n very light breeze, so decided ta drag me beloved down ta Blast beach to fill her lungs wi fresh sea air n lift er spirits.
Blast Beach so called cos thi wuz a blast furnace sited on it in the 1700s n tha can still see plenty o traces o the owd brown iron ore. Bit bleak but a favourite fer the local sea fishermen, in fact resembles a bit of a moonscape wi sea. I luv it mesen cos never many on and great fer beachcombing, even get the odd WW11 ordnance washed up as loo-ads were dumped offshore when the war ended. Also great fer collecting the famous Seaham tumbled sea glass, remnants that were dumped inta the drink from the many local Victorian glass works. Gud bits highly sought after by Fashion jewellery makers, even met a tash once who ad come over from the States to do some collecting, just shows thee, one mans rubbish.... Also a favourite spot fer film n TV as the beginning of Allien11 wuz shot theer, also a few clips from the Viking series, "The Last Kingdom" n the detective series "Vera", often see the camera crews parked up theer, but never managed ta gerrinvited fer a part, even fer "Man In Bandages"!

      Re: BLAST

Dave, looks like a grand day out on a nice day! better than mine buddy. Been clearing up the crap that the previous owner left in the garden area, including six knackered old bird feeders,a complete length of fencing which he used to keep his dog from straying,23 concrete and resin garden ornaments, and 35 cracked and buggered plastic plant pots. The old tip blokes must have thought this twat has pulled his house down when I arrived. Usual old bollocks, wood in here, metal in there, rubble over there. There never near each other are they!

A long stretch of beach from the Featherbed rocks in the south to Ryhope Dene in the north, with a promenade running for much of the length. The beach is a mixture of sand and shingle and the ground is mainly sand interspersed with patches of rocks. SPECIES Best times will be during autumn and […]

Very popular wi the Fishermen Tone, summat I,m not into, daft kunt that I am I,d rather spend me time knockin me bollox off digging oyles. Allus comps at the weekend off the harbour wall n one or two allus set up on Blast Beach, tha can see em mekkin their way down wi all their tackle when the tide is reight for em. It can be as ruff as fukk tho, ideal fer the owd surfers but probably too fukkin cowd! Not far off shore is a sunken WW1 German U Boat plus loo-ads o other wrecks that av accumulated over the years. Last tragedy wuz in the 60s I believe when the lifeboat n crew were lost while on a rescue mission

                      Re: BLAST

Was walking the Cornish coastal footpath many yonks ago, blowing an absolute blizzard, wind knocking me over, heard a couple of bangs and a maroon go up. about 15 minutes later this lifeboat left the shores and headed out to sea, every few seconds it disappeared as it rode massive waves. Thought at the time those blokes (and wimmin nowadays) had some guts, and they were out to help others. I always put some dosh in a lifeboat collection.
