Well that's no fukkin use...what we going to use for the revolution? There's a lot of politicians need killing, i'm sure they would have been delighted to have been dispatched with the efficiency that could've offered.

Suppose it's a bit different from the brass things you used to get sitting on fireplace hearths, wouldn't try it with that though.

Nice bit of kit there Pat, living history, wonder if it was ever used in anger. Be nice if it had some history to it relating to WW2.

The pic of it on my phone caused a stir in the bar tonight anyway.Don't know the history of it,but the date on the top of 1944 suggests it might have history!

Pat ... I bet that thing gave the Krauts a pasting if it's got a 44 date on it. That was when the Russians got the upper hand starting with the fall of Stalingrad in Jan 44. The Russkies would have been unlikely to let something like that sit idle for the simple reason they never had enough kit to to go round. I betcha that has put a few rounds Westward.

Who needs a guard dog when you can have that poking out the kitchen window.

Unfortunately not,as it's been deactivated to the new European specification, with bits removed, and all moving parts welded, unlike my MG42 on the sidecar, that could, with a new barrel definitely be got back to working order!

Wheel it into the bank,Pat. See if anyone says anything.
I have always set myself a very low standard, and constantly fail to achieve it.

Just looked at it again. Looks dead awkward to fire. Be hard to aim would'nt it ? If its fired from a sitting position. Which I presume it is. That break up into three parts. So it takes three blokes to move it. Lot to be said for a good old Gimpy. Even a Bren, though I doubt a Bren would have been appreciated in the Russian cauldron. Not with a magazine. How do you aim any of those weapons that are fired from a sitting position. Watch the other sides blokes falling down ?

Think it was designed to generally be fired lying down, hence the armour plate with a cut out to sight through, and the wheels meant it could be towed around by a couple of blokes, rather than carried. The whole thing must weigh about 200lbs,the heaviest bit being the carriage, which I had to roll end over end in it's box into the house. The design of it is great, with a cracking traverse and elevation system, and a clever little attachment on the trail that turns from a towing eye into a little spike for anchoring it against recoil. On the top of the barrel sleeve is a round hatch,so they could pack snow into the cooling jacket instead of water. The two firing grips at the rear have screw tops that come out to become brushes coated in grease/oil to keep the parts moving.Lot of thought went into this thing!
