Having taken into account the current COVID restrictions that currently apply in the different parts of the UK, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 reunion.
The Chairman Nick Butler will be heading up the Fan at 0930 hrs on Saturday the 15th May and he will lay a BAFC wreath on behalf of the Club at the summit.
He will also toast The Fallen.
If other members wish to make their own pilgrimage up the Fan at their own risk please follow the relevant COVID restrictions that will be in place.
As a Club we are not able to accept liability for members safety and well being over the weekend of 14/15 May. Our Clubs insurance that normally covers Fandance will not operate this year.
Update to follow reference Aldershot 10 Miler on the 20th November 2021.
.........................................................................................................................The 10 Miler will be held on w/e Saturday 23rd November 2024........................................................................................
Steve, I don't know that it was Angola where Jonah got injured. I was talking to Paddy Lindsay at PARA 50 in the shot when he came hobbling along on crutches or sticks and Paddy asked him what happened. Jonah said it was "a little thing up near the Chinese border", he wasn't saying much because he wasn't sure who I was.
Jack was it PARA 50 you met him at?
Must have been Don we were in 9 Sqn bar "what a night/morning"
When it all collapsed and was getting televised they showed some footage of blokes that had been killed attacking Cuban T52 Tanks with hand grenades. They panned over the bodies and a 3 Para bloke that was bunking at my pad recognised a mate from the tattoos. I had no idea sixty of them were killed. Attacking Tanks with small Arms I have to wonder what Costa Georgiu was thinking.....

tone georgiou got a field commission for engaging a cuban armoured column with a anti aircraft gun stopping the advance and killed more than a couple cubans ... and the americans have a few un answered questions to answer for. and remember more than half of the so called mercs were not trained soldiers. a mix of airborne lads TA and wanna be's. a sad outcome indeed. i was living in belfast at the time and wee mary seen the ad in the personal ads in the sun and other newspapers for individuals seeking well paid work seeking ex service personal for interesting project. of course she warned me off not that i would have went anyway.

F**k up from beginning to end. Painful watching that trial again even after all these years. Brummy used to say that he never had any luck, from what i heard about the execution he was spot on. Pity Pete mac was not involved earlier, however they were up against the Cubans who had been dabbling in wars in Africa for years, supported by the Russians, I think the term is 'a lose, lose situation' RIP lads
I had no idea they shot Para lads in that Ravine at Maquela. FFL and Green Jackets and an SAS guy too. I thought they were all civvies. They must have gone fookin' stark staring raving insane. Fookin' bad news.

I am wrong again. I always thought seventeen blokes got the chop in that ravine in Maquela. Mr Saunders sez fourteen which is obviously the right figure. Cant help but wonder what those poor fookers were thinking when they were lined up at the time. There was a 40 year old ex 22 guy and 2 Para lads in that lot FFS ???? I also heard that Andy Mackenzie argued against it vehemenently but Sammy was all for it. Telling Sammy that if they did it they could never go back to Britain. Third one was easy either way. 'Course that could be a load of bollox too. With the luxury of hind sight and also not having me back against the wall in the Angolan bush....might have been better if they had ghosted Costa Gergiou when he issued that order. Definetely better for Sammy C. Sad affair however you cut it.
