Re: If you gonna be dumb....

Just sitting here thinking about what we kids had as entertainment. I used to walk three mile on Saturday to morning to watch the Cisco Kid then walk back. Bird nesting all the way. Thats if it werent raining. Til we got our own telly. I was maybe seven. Now you got kids watching full blown technicolor Pornography beamed right into their flat screen tellys or into their hands wherever they may be. Available non stop 24 hours a day. (How would Bill and Ben compete with that) ? We just tumbled an eight year old lil lassie gandering at it. She was googling "Hot Sex" Heard somebody mention it at school. What do you do ? Its all pervasive. It ain't Andy Pandy and Looby Lou now for this generation.

Re: If you gonna be dumb....

This was where he lived in Grass valley Ca. Big Brit history.... Not far from Billy Meikles pad. Next time I swan up there I will have peep at this place

Grass Valley, which was originally known as Boston Ravine and later officially named Centerville, dates from the California Gold Rush, as does nearby Nevada City. When a post office was established in 1851, it was renamed Grass Valley the following year for unknown reasons. The town incorporated in 1860.[5]Grass Valley is the location of the Empire Mine and North Star Mine, two of the richest mines in California. George Starr, manager of the Empire Mine, and William Bowers Bourn II, the mine owner, donated mine property which became Memorial Park.[6]:42
Many of those who came to settle in Grass Valley were tin miners from Cornwall, England. They were attracted to the California gold fields because the same skills needed for deep tin mining were needed for hardrock (deep) gold mining. Many of them specialized in pumping the water out of very deep mining shafts. This followed the disastrous fall in tin prices as large alluvial deposits began to be exploited elsewhere.[citation needed]
Grass Valley still holds on to its Cornish heritage, with events such as its annual Cornish Christmas and St Piran's Daycelebrations.[7]Cornish pasties are a local favorite dish with a few restaurants in town specializing in recipes handed down from the original immigrant generation. Grass Valley is also twinned with Bodmin in Cornwall (UK).

Yep Dave....and when you went spinning on down that M6 and swapped onto the M5. You was half a mile from my pad. Torquay was my bag. I used to jump in me Datsun and skidaddle down there. Spend all the wikend diving off that big rock in Anstey's Cove. I used to stay in a blokes Band B that was from Sheffield way actually. He made a few quid in the Gold Mines in South Africa and came back bought a place in the top of the town. Great bloke. three quid a night. Could'nt beat it. Used to pick the kids up from the ex and be gone. Great days.

Probably renamed 'cos many of the locals were on the old wacky backy, or grass as it is otherwise known.
