  • Tilley lamps

I've discovered a load of old Tilley lamps I'd forgotten about after my move to Somerset, and have started getting them back into working condition, which isn't exactly rocket science, just a lot of cleaning and renewing of rubber seals, etc, and found that there is no shortage of spare parts out there. It's nice to see them light up after yonks quietly rusting away. Does anyone have any old paraffin lamps they don't want? I've got the bug for collecting them now. I've even found a Tilley searchlight, which looks as if it might have come off a river boat, as it has brackets for attaching it to a mounting. Looks pretty good, and chucks out a decent light from a big old reflector. The sight and sound of them hissing away makes me want to look out my tent.

I've got a couple of the petrol versions that I use for barbecues and suchlike when it gets dark. They put out some heat as well when we move into the 12'X12' tent later on. Think I have a German army crate somewhere with 2 in that somebody donated a few years back, must look it out and get them working.
