  • Ukrainian 'refugees'

Just spoken to a mate of mine from Clun, in Shropshire, who had offered to put up a couple of Ukrainian refugees fleeing the war. Personally, I think he was just keen to get his hooks on the £600 a month the Government said they'd pay him, as he's fond of a pound. Really all he was doing was jumping on the Military Industrial Complex gravy train, in my humble opinion, but anyway, Shropshire Council came out to his gaff to give it the once over to see if it was up to scratch, and passed it as OK, so fair enough. He likes money.
The Ukrainian man and woman turned up in Clun, in their car, some people came out to welcome them, but the woman took one look at the bathroom, didn't like it, and they both left. It's a really nice 600 year old house in a very nice part of the countryside, so no one can believe that it's not suitable. You think they'd have been happy to move in to what used to be an inn 500 years ago, with a huge ingle nook type fireplace. Got to be better than a war zone, you'd think. I've stayed there loads of times, and I can assure you that the house, and Clun, are absolutely fine by UK standards. And anyway, I thought that the men in Ukraine were supposed to stay behind and fight Russians. All a bit odd if you ask me. I'd love to live in Clun. There's a great pub there........

Maybe it was him turning up to greet them naked that put them off!

Charlie, maybe the toilet was a sit down, i.e. not a hole in the ground and far too modern for them? When i suggested we do the same, my wife wasn't interested in the £700/month.

I'm with you Dave, I'd love to live in a house with such a history. A lot of it was built from the stone and timber that was 'liberated' from Clun castle after it was abandoned. If he was to put it on the market, it would be going for about £750,000. It's near the 14th century bridge at the bottom of Church Street, and would be regarded as a 'des res' by the likes of me.
I have to say Don, those two birds in that photo you posted look like wall to wall trouble........

Talking of birds in the guardroom,I see 3 Para had a mention in the papers for having a gangbang in the block in Colchester. Good to see some things never change!

If Vlad the Invader has his way, every building in Ukraine is going to be very modern indeed. Nothing earlier than 2002 !!

Not much difference between the beautytash English countryside n Mariopol in Ukraine iz thi? Thiz an area in Shiny Sheff called "Page Hall", sounds fukkin posh dunnit? Now almost totally infested wi Pakis,Arabs n Romanians, total shithole iz givin it a compliment! Perhaps the Ukranian couple wud find this location moor appealing?

                      Hi Don,
It's just a bit further up, opposite that bus stop on the right hand side, where that car's parked. It's a lovely place. His cat sometimes stops the traffic by sitting in the middle of the road, washing it's face. It never moves, but the lady from the baker comes out and takes it in the shop. The cat doesn't mind at all, he's extremely laid back.
