Having taken into account the current COVID restrictions that currently apply in the different parts of the UK, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 reunion.
The Chairman Nick Butler will be heading up the Fan at 0930 hrs on Saturday the 15th May and he will lay a BAFC wreath on behalf of the Club at the summit.
He will also toast The Fallen.
If other members wish to make their own pilgrimage up the Fan at their own risk please follow the relevant COVID restrictions that will be in place.
As a Club we are not able to accept liability for members safety and well being over the weekend of 14/15 May. Our Clubs insurance that normally covers Fandance will not operate this year.
Update to follow reference Aldershot 10 Miler on the 20th November 2021.
.........................................................................................................................The 10 Miler will be held on w/e Saturday 23rd November 2024........................................................................................
Gone are the days of syringing ears out, used to go regularly each year to have mine done, think I still had half of Lynemouth Colliery still in the bottom of mine judging by the dark stuff they used to get out of them. But now its all done by micro suction, because the reckon syringing damaged your ears. Thing is you can't get an appointment for love nor money !
Bob - how strange the world has become so complicated and complex - once I got into the Medic role, they taught you how to syringe wax out of ears and it really is a peace of piss with very low risk if you follow the rules.
Best to use some "wax Softner" for a couple of days before - that is still over the counter and used with or without the need for syringe.
Small bore tube (IV giving set works if you haven't got the right kit - use warm water and just gently run the syringe directing the tube to the top of the lug and wait for the plug to come!!
Of course it is handy to be able to see into the ear to check you can see the ear drum, but not essential.
Any pain, just stop, it should be painless - the surface tension of water can actually tear the drum, but typically, as long as you are not squirting like a porn star, the perforation will self heal.
Did it many times for guys in the cuds without real access to full kit - they should have had it done in base but when you get into the field and they tell you they can't hear.....
I just don't understand why they won't shut the hell up while I practice my people skills....
When I bought this place the bloke before me was on oxygen bottles as he had some breathing problem, felt sorry for him really because he sounded like a deep sea diver with the bends. He had to carry oxygen bottles around on his back, with pipe up his nose. Poor bugger looked like Buzz Lightyear !
