Some people might think that you really mean surf!
I know that you're correct though!

Re: Jnr Para Intake 1972
Fremington had become the place to be by '76.The lovely sand dunes of Braunton Burrows, and the delights of Gold? Hill outside the camp, about 3 miles top to bottom, and seemed at least 45 degrees.A young junior named Moon collapsed halfway up during one of the inter platoon races, and was unceremoniously pushed into the ditch for collection on the way back.Luckily for him the district nurse happened along in her Morris Minor,as he was by now dead from a heart attack, which she managed to reverse!End of his career, and some awkward questions from the local press! The delights of rock climbing on Dartmoor, which for some reason always involved a 10 miler in those old unbending climbing boots.Oh the good old days!

Re: Jnr Para Intake 1972
A great photo. Would be good to get it enlarged. I had quite a few from the 18 months I was in JPC (68-69). My step father threw them out when on the bottle and I was in Stockholm, along with the rest of my -stuff-. Penhale brings back memories. Thousand and and one tatties. Of all the -camps- we did I think Skye was the one I remember most. Feb 1969. Bathing from the pier in Portree after a -good run- in the morning. We had a Sgt called Chapman. Long streek of urin with buck teeth. 3 Para (cap badge stuck to the centre of his forehead). He made us all go in but wouldnŽt himself. We gave him the choice of taking his kit off and getting in on his own accord or we would chuck him in, kit and all. He started coming with -disciplinary action- bla bla, so we grabbed him and chucked him in. Life was generally crap for a week afterwards but it was well worth it to see the look on his face.....
We did a forced march from some 15 miles north of Portree down to the camp. It went -quite well- and nobody dropped out (we were really fit). Bringing up the rear was a WO2 from the depot who we didnŽt know very well more than he was always moaning. The staff told us that we had done a good job (as much as they ever did) and this prat says -Yes, but could they fight when they got there- Heard one of the fullscrews mumble -weŽll let them loose on you and see what happens-
Was looking on ebay the other day and nearly chocked om me rusks...... had to buy it. If anyone wants a copy IŽve scanned it all.01.jpg
