@bob9739 A lot of people don,t realise that the mixing is the secret to sound mortar. When mixing I always use 5 shovels of sand to 3 of cement or the equivilant if you just need a smaller amount. Put dry sand and cement on a spot board and using shovel to turn it over, keep shovelling the mix from left to right and then right to left and repeat continuously until thoroughly mixed together. Make small hole in the centre of the mix pile making a small volcano effect. Then continually add water to the hole, small amount at a time while dragging mortar mix from the sides and mixing constantly until you get a nice smooth texture. The more time you spend mixing the smoother and better, bit like mixing a Yorkshire pudding. Make sure the gobbo is firm enough to adhere to the shovel or trowel and not too sloppy.

Hell of a life when you have to plan a trip out by checking if there are piss rings in the area. There was a time when they used to have attendant operated piss rings which were mostly kept immaculate. These days you have stinking stainless steel bogs most of which are covered in someone's shit in various degrees and a floor swimming in piss. Well done UK I'm sure foreign visitors appreciate your cleanliness! 🤮

Only problem was the tap kept coming off the tube letting the piss soak me for several minutes before I'd realise. Several mornings running I'd get to the shop for my paper and get out of the car soaked in piss, just had to shrug and smile at the girls as they served me and say 'Yes I've pissed myself again!'. They got used to it quite quickly! 😜
