                          Re: Davey Longstaff

Is it me or are we a strange breed, I haven't seen or spoken to Dave for years yet he was my friend and I feel his loss as if we where still working together. I have spent several weeks searching every box, case, drawer and cupboard to find this picture as I know he was very proud of his achievement. I worked with Dave in the Depot Med Centre for quite some time in the mid seventies when he took on this sponsored slim for the British Heart Foundation and raised a couple of thousand pounds (can't remember exactly), that was a lot of money back then, he also got very fit in the process going out P Coy quite a lot on med cover and as you can see the RQ a headache with his uniform size?

RIP mucker, you may have left some friends behind but I know you have a lot more where you are now.

I remember Davey's slimming efforts, being a young crow in depot at the time.He must've gone out on every tab with every platoon,as medical cover, god knows how many miles a day he covered. He then came to 3 Para for a short time.Never saw the big fella without a grin on his chops, whatever the situation.R.I.P.Big Man.
