I tell you what makes me smile is the run ins the Aussies had with British Ruperts.
They could not equate with each other one bit. In the film that is. I suspect it was the same in real life.

That,s mentioned in the book Tone. The Aussies being hard working and even harder drinking men did,nt go for all this "yes sir,no sir" stuff and having literally no military training, they looked upon these young aristocrat Oxbridge academics with plums in their gobs as complete and utter knobheads!

Agreed - seems like all the Airborne Brigade are slinging the capbadge as far as they can towards their left ear !!

    Anyone know why ?

You can't help but wonder if the lads today are not as proud of it as we were in our day Dave.

The brass ones were not thick enough to hold the badge tight against the beret, the plastic did a better job. it also saved beer tokens!

We had a new OC take over the coy around 79/80ish, ex gaurds rupert, he lost the plot with us over somthing and punished us all by banning
the use of Victors beret's. Cor blimey talk about chuntering in the ranks, for a while Muster parade looked a bit like ladies day at Ascot.

    Re: Out and about

We had some very hot weather here in the east today so it was out to the 1940's week end. These people dress up for a hobby they spend a lot of money on their kit. I know a mate sold some para kit to one guy and authenticity is a must. I for one having had to wear the Queens uniform I don't really want to dress up any more so I spent the day observing. The radio sets are of interest being an ex signaller any one familiar with them please let me know. Any complaints, I don't get paid for my videos its just a hobby
