Having taken into account the current COVID restrictions that currently apply in the different parts of the UK, we have made the difficult decision to cancel the 2021 reunion.
The Chairman Nick Butler will be heading up the Fan at 0930 hrs on Saturday the 15th May and he will lay a BAFC wreath on behalf of the Club at the summit.
He will also toast The Fallen.
If other members wish to make their own pilgrimage up the Fan at their own risk please follow the relevant COVID restrictions that will be in place.
As a Club we are not able to accept liability for members safety and well being over the weekend of 14/15 May. Our Clubs insurance that normally covers Fandance will not operate this year.
Update to follow reference Aldershot 10 Miler on the 20th November 2021.
.........................................................................................................................The 10 Miler will be held on w/e Saturday 23rd November 2024........................................................................................
All wars are planned by older men
In council rooms apart,
Who call for greater armament
And map the battle chart....
But their sightless eyes stare out
Beyond life,s vanished joys,
I,ve noticed nearly all the dead
Were hardly more than boys.
All wars are planned by older men
In council rooms apart,
Who call for greater armament
And map the battle chart....
But their sightless eyes stare out
Beyond life,s vanished joys,
I,ve noticed nearly all the dead
Were hardly more than boys.

Two Sides Of War (All Wars) - Poem by Henry Grantland Rice
'All wars are planned by older men
In council rooms apart,
Who call for greater armament
And map the battle chart.
But out along the shattered field
Where golden dreams turn gray,
How very young the faces were
Where all the dead men lay.
Portly and solemn in their pride,
The elders cast their vote
For this or that, or something else,
That sounds the martial note.
But where their sightless eyes stare out
Beyond life's vanished toys,
I've noticed nearly all the dead
Were hardly more than boys.'
When the war was over,
and the fighting had been done
The people that were left alive …
realised no one had won.
So they said that we should learn from this
and teach our children well
So they wouldn’t make the same mistakes
and live through the same hell
But instead of showing them what was lost,
they told them what was gained,
they sang about the hero’s,
but not the dead and maimed,
They let them watch the victory films
and sing the victory song
Then they watched them all march off to war,
and wondered where they’d gone wrong.

I have always set myself a very low standard, and constantly fail to achieve it.

Muslims in Leicester Society
"Yes I am new compared to others. But I feel that I have lived in Leicester forever. I would define myself as European, Leicester, Muslim—you know a lot of definitions. In Leicester, no matter your background, whether you are black, or white, or Asian, or Christian, or Sikh, people have respect for you."
John Mohammed Bishop, Deputy Chair, Muslims in Leicester.
