  • Tribute to dad, one year on

    Jock Moodie

The rustling of the newspaper as he studied the racing form for his bets.
The way he wouldnt go anywhere without 1st having a wash n shave.
The way he would wash up, tidy up n put things away always with the tea towel over his shoulder.
The way he would inspect himself in the mirror before going to work.
The way everything had its place in his world.
The way he would laugh out loud to Morcambe n Wise or a good joke.
The way he would give you that look if he wasnt impressed.
The way he said to a brother" where did you find that dog" about a particularly ugly bird lol.
The way his look could say "enough" now and you would stop.
The way he would look at his grandchildren and great grandchildren with sheer pride n joy.
The way way he was always there for us.
The way he would downplay his wartime n army service.
The way he made us feel when he left us for Valhalla.
The thanks i have for having him as my dad.
The pride i have in who he was and what he did for us all.
The void he has left behind that can never be filled.
The sorrow i feel when i think of his passing.
The way he is missed as the gentleman he was.
The way i shall smile at the memories of my dad.
I hope those who knew him will smile with me and raise a glass.
To a true Airborne warrior, a man full of class.
    R.I.P dad
