  • Steve Gerrard 2PARA...

    ...Lifted from FB.

It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that i have to inform you that Steven Gerrard Ex WO2 2 Para passed away peacefully in his sleep last night. His daughter Shelly has just informed me this morning.

I took him to Pangbourne memorial service on Sunday and spent yesterday morning along with my wife Pam sitting in his garden. It was a pleasure to have known and served with Steve, a man with a cracking sense of humour who would help anybody.

My condolences go out to Shelly and the rest of his family, to die at so young having just retired is so sad. No more details are available yet but i will pass on anything as and when i hear of it.

A seat awaits you at the top table in Valhalla rest in peace my friend.

Gutted .... I knew Steve for many years both in 2 Para and 10 Para, he was a great guy, a great Para and a great dad and grandad, he loved his grub, he loved his family and adored his mum (he brought her down to our tea shop on the south coast a few months ago. After the Reg he ran the cadet unit at Seaford College in West Sussex for many years and was very highly thought of by all the students. The ole bugger was exactly one year younger than me to the day. Very sad RIP me ole mate

Steve Gerrard.jpg Steve was a terrific guy, we were boy soldiers together and kept in contact throughout our service. Steve had a massive heart attack when he was about 19 and as you would expect made a swift and complete recovery. It will be a noisy night as the top table in Valhalla but Steve is the one to keep order. RIP my friend.
